October 31, 2008 Available January 2009, Belkin’s US$1499.99 FlyWire wirelessly delivers uncompressed 1080p True Cinema HD content from Blu-ray players, receivers, video-game consoles and set-top boxes, to HDTVs and projectors.

Designed to simplify home theater and commercial installations, the FlyWire kit includes an HD transmitter, receiver, remote control, IR repeater and blaster, and three HDMI cables. The transmitter connects to AV components, while the receiver mounts to the HDTV, providing users with an uncluttered set-up in challenging locations. The SD-card slot provides users with expansion options, and the opportunity to upgrade.

FlyWire operates in the open 5GHz band, and intelligently manages its own connection, adjusting frequency and power to avoid interference. Automatic frequency hopping overcomes difficulties by continually searching for the best available frequency. FlyWire does not compress video, and transmits AV with no latency period. It can transmit through walls and windows, and the IR backchannel allows users to control AV devices hidden in other rooms. The IR receiver and IR blaster also allow existing remote controls to be used.
