Transformers sequel to be partially shot in IMAX

Director Michael Bay will shoot selected scenes from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen with IMAX cameras... and we can't think of too many films more worthy of the mega-format treatment. Due for release a in June next year, the follow-up to the 2007 action smash hit will blend IMAX footage with movie sequences shot in traditional 35mm which will be digitally re-mastered for IMAX cinemas. The re-mastered scenes will appear in the conventional "letterbox" format while the selected scenes (and you can bet they will be action-packed CGI moments) will expand to fill the entire IMAX screen. Samsung announces Pixon 8MP touch-screen camera phone

Samsung is looking to satisfy consumers who want more than a second string performance from their mobile phone camera with the announcement of a new full-touch screen, 8-megapixel unit dubbed the Pixon. The slimline (13.8mm) design does look more like a camera than a phone and incorporates a number of features usually found only in the stand-alone camera realm such as face detection, shake-reduction and geo-tagging. The unit's 3.2 inch, 240x400 touch screen also enhances its photo browsing capability and with auto-focus, dual power LED Flash, a music player, FM Radio, Bluetooth connectivity and video recording at 30 fps (720 x 480) including slow motion playback, it looks to be another useful example of convergence in the mobile handset market. 3-D complex document visualization

September 5, 2008 Xerox has been responsible for some of the most important innovations of our time and graphic artists the world over will almost certainly count this one as equal to any that have come before. Preparing detailed brochures and flyers with special folds can be an incredibly exacting, time-consuming and costly process. The company’s latest is a new technology that uses 3-D software to view the entire layout of a piece before it goes to print. Aimed at eliminating one of the most costly bottlenecks in printing, the new technology will speed document preparation and approval – a process that costs six dollars for every one dollar spent on the print job itself, according to InfoTrends.
